Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette, amends the definition of life preserving services in clause 3 of the code of good faith for the public health sector. Clause 11 of the code provides that, during industrial action, employers must provide for patient safety by ensuring that life preserving services are available to prevent a serious threat to life or permanent disability. The definition of life preserving services contains 3 paragraphs that refer to certain matters that relate only to the preservation of life. This order amends the definition by adding 3 paragraphs that include references to permanent disability.
