The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title
(1)
This Act is the Casino Control (Moratorium Extension) Amendment Act 2000.
(2)
In this Act, the Casino Control Act 1990 is called “the principal Act”
.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
3 Moratorium on considering applications received between 16 October 1997 and 15 October 2000
(1)
Section 27A(1) of the principal Act is amended by—
(a)
omitting the expression “3-year”
:
(b)
omitting the expression “2000”
, and substituting the expression “2003”
.
(2)
Section 27A(3)(b) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the expression “2000”
, and substituting the expression “2003”
.
(3)
Section 27A of the principal Act is amended by repealing subsection (4), and substituting the following subsection:
“(4)
No compensation is payable by the Crown to any person for any loss resulting from the moratorium imposed by this section.”
(4)
The heading to section 27A of the principal Act is amended by omitting the expression “2000”
, and substituting the expression “2003”
.
4 Expiry of provisions
Section 27B of the principal Act is amended by omitting the expression “2000”
, and substituting the expression “2003”
.
5 Repeal of Act
This Act is repealed on 16 October 2003.
