Contents
The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title
(1)
This Act is the Explosives Amendment Act 2000.
(2)
In this Act, the Explosives Act 1957 is called “the principal Act”
.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
3 New section 8 substituted
(1)
The principal Act is amended by repealing section 8, and substituting the following section:
“8 Inspectors of Explosives
The Secretary may appoint as many people to be Inspectors of Explosives as seems necessary for the purposes of this Act.”
(2)
Subsection (1) does not affect the status as an Inspector of Explosives of any person holding office immediately before the commencement of this section.
4 Consequential amendment
The Fifth Schedule of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 is amended by adding the following item:
“Explosives Amendment Act 2000 (2000 No 63).”
