The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Local Electoral Amendment Act 2006.

1 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Principal Act amended
4 Territorial authority or regional council may resolve to establish Maori wards or Maori constituencies

  • Section 19Z(4) is amended by omitting “clauses 2(4)” and substituting “clauses 2(5)”.

5 Schedule 1A amended

  • (1) Clause 2(5) of Schedule 1A is amended by omitting “other”.

    (2) Clause 4(4) of Schedule 1A is amended by omitting “other”.
