This order is made under section 336 of the Accident Compensation Act 2001—
(a)
on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
(b)
on the recommendation of the Minister for ACC made after complying with section 336(2) of that Act.
Order
1 Title
This order is the Accident Compensation (Occupational Diseases) Order 2025.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 27 November 2025.
3 Principal Act
This order amends the Accident Compensation Act 2001.
4 Schedule 2 amended
(1)
In Schedule 2, item 2, replace “Lung cancer or mesothelioma”
with “Lung cancer, mesothelioma, laryngeal cancer, or ovarian cancer”
.
(2)
In Schedule 2, item 21, after “liver”
, insert “or hepatocellular carcinoma”
.
(3)
In Schedule 2, after item 41, insert the items set out in the Schedule of this order.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 27 November 2025, amends the Accident Compensation Act 2001 (the principal Act). This order amends the list of occupational diseases specified in Schedule 2 of the principal Act by—
inserting 9 new diseases; and
amending 2 existing diseases.
The effect of the amendments is to update the list of occupational diseases that may constitute a personal injury caused by a work-related gradual process, disease, or infection to reflect the occupational exposures faced by the New Zealand workforce.
