71 Exercise of powers, duties, and functions

Neither a statutory acknowledgement nor a deed of recognition affects, or may be taken into account in the exercise of a power, duty, or function by a person or entity under a statute, regulation, or bylaw.

No person or entity, in considering any matter or making any decision or recommendation under any statute, regulation, or bylaw may give any greater or lesser weight to the association of Te Uri o Hau with a statutory area (as described in the relevant statutory acknowledgement) than that person or entity would give under the relevant statute, regulation, or bylaw if no statutory acknowledgement or deed of recognition existed in respect of the statutory area.

Subsection (2) does not affect the operation of subsection (1).

This section applies subject to sections 58, 60 to 62, 65, 66, and 68.
