This order is made under section 260 of the Local Government Act 2002 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

1 Title
This order is the Local Government (Manawatū–Whanganui Regional Council) Order 2019.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 18 October 2019.
3 Amendment to Schedule 2 of Local Government Act 2002

This clause amends the Local Government Act 2002.

In Schedule 2, Part 1, item relating to Manawatu–Wanganui Regional Council, replace “Manawatu–Wanganui Regional Council”
with “Manawatū–Whanganui Regional Council”

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order amends Schedule 2 of the Local Government Act 2002 to change the name of the Manawatu–Wanganui Regional Council to Manawatū–Whanganui Regional Council. The amendment takes effect when the order comes into force on 18 October 2019.
The Minister for Land Information recommended that the order be made after receiving a request from the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa under section 22(2) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008.
