The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • (1) This Act is the Bail Amendment Act 2003.

    (2) In this Act, the Bail Act 2000 is called “the principal Act”.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Variation of conditions of bail

  • Section 57(3) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words “in writing”.

4 Arrest of defendant charged with drug dealing offence

  • Section 59(2) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the expression “48”, and substituting the expression “72”.
