The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title
This Act is the Telecommunications Amendment Act 2006.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
3 Principal Act amended
This Act amends the Telecommunications Act 2001.
4 Expiry of designated services and specified services
Section 65 is amended by inserting the following subsection after subsection (1):

“(1A) In subsection (1)(a), 5 years must be read as 7 years for the following designated services and specified services described in Parts 2 and 3 respectively of Schedule 1:
“(a) interconnection with Telecom's fixed PSTN:
“(b) interconnection with fixed PSTN other than Telecom's:
“(c) retail services offered by means of Telecom's fixed telecommunications network:
“(d) residential local access and calling service offered by means of Telecom's fixed telecommunications network:
“(e) bundle of retail services offered by means of Telecom's fixed telecommunications network:
“(f) retail services offered by means of Telecom's fixed telecommunications network as part of a bundle of retail services:
“(g) local telephone number portability service:
“(h) cellular telephone number portability service:
“(i) national roaming:
“(j) co-location on cellular mobile transmission sites.”
