Pursuant to section 2 of the Adoption Amendment Act 2008, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

This order is the Adoption Amendment Act 2008 Commencement Order 2009.
2 Commencement of Adoption Amendment Act 2008
The Adoption Amendment Act 2008 comes into force on 18 May 2009.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings into force, on 18 May 2009, the Adoption Amendment Act 2008.
The Adoption Amendment Act 2008 amends the Adoption Act 1955 (the principal Act) to—
specify who may attend a hearing of an application under the principal Act; and
provide that sections 11B to 11D of the Family Courts Act 1980 apply to the publication of a report of any proceedings under the principal Act in any court.
