22 2010 and 2013 elections for members of ECan must not be held

(1)

The triennial general elections of members of ECan that would otherwise be held on the second Saturday in October 2010 (the 2010 election) and in October 2013 must not be held and to that extent section 10(2) of the Local Electoral Act 2001 does not apply.

(2)

A notice given by an electoral officer in respect of the 2010 election under section 52 of the Local Electoral Act 2001 is of no force or effect.

(3)

If a notice referred to in subsection (2) has been given before the commencement of this section, the electoral officer must as soon as practicable give public notice that the 2010 election will not be held.
