Pursuant to section 2 of the State-Owned Enterprises Amendment Act 2012, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
Order
1 Title
This order is the State-Owned Enterprises Amendment Act 2012 (Meridian Energy Limited) Commencement Order 2013.
2 Commencement of provisions relating to Meridian Energy Limited
The following sections of the State-Owned Enterprises Amendment Act 2012 come into force on 30 August 2013:
(a) sections 4(2) and 5(2) (amendments to State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986):
(b) section 6(3) (amendment to Ombudsmen Act 1975):
(c) section 8(3) (amendment to Public Finance Act 1989):
(d) sections 10(2) and 11(2) (amendments to Income Tax Act 2007).

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings the State-Owned Enterprises Amendment Act 2012 into force in relation to Meridian Energy Limited on 30 August 2013. The effect of doing so is that Meridian Energy Limited ceases on that date to be a State enterprise under the State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986 and becomes a mixed ownership model company listed in Schedule 5 of the Public Finance Act 1989. At the same time, the Ombudsmen Act 1975 and the Official Information Act 1982 cease to apply to Meridian Energy Limited and the name of the company is inserted in the list of mixed-ownership enterprises under the Income Tax Act 2007.
