Order

1 Title

This order is the Excise and Excise-equivalent Duties Table (Motor Spirits) Amendment Order 2012.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 1 August 2012.

Order: confirmed, on 12 December 2012, by section 9(c) of the Subordinate Legislation (Confirmation and Validation) Act 2012 (2012 No 97).

3 Excise and Excise-equivalent Duties Table

This order amends the Excise and Excise-equivalent Duties Table (the table) as defined in section 76A of the Customs and Excise Act 1996.

4 Rates of excise duty and excise-equivalent duty on motor spirits amended

In the table, replace “48.524¢ plus 8¢ per g of Pb” with “50.524¢ plus 8¢ per g of Pb” in each place.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 August 2012, amends the Excise and Excise-equivalent Duties Table.

The amendment increases the excise and excise-equivalent duties on motor spirits (as defined in section 79A of the Customs and Excise Act 1996) by 2 cents per litre.

Revenue collected from excise and excise-equivalent duties on motor spirits is used to finance National Land Transport Fund expenditure on land transport activities.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.
