The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
This Act is the Local Government (Rating) Amendment Act 2016.
This Act comes into force on 1 March 2017.
This Act amends the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 (the principal Act).
After section 70(2), insert:

The Registrar may charge the fee, and require the fee to be paid, before the work required of the Registrar in effecting the sale or lease is begun.
In section 75(a), after “fee”, insert “(unless the fee has already been paid)”.
