The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title
This Act is the Bills of Exchange Amendment Act 2016.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on 1 March 2017.
3 Principal Act
This Act amends the Bills of Exchange Act 1908 (the principal Act).
4 New section 96A inserted (Actions on other lost negotiable instruments)
After section 96, insert:
96A Actions on other lost negotiable instruments
Section 70 applies to a negotiable instrument that is not a bill in the same way as it applies to a bill.
