This order is made under section 2(1) of the Medicines Amendment Act 2016 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

2 Commencement of Medicines Amendment Act 2016
The Medicines Amendment Act 2016 comes into force on 31 January 2018.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings the Medicines Amendment Act 2016 into force on 31 January 2018. That Act amends the Medicines Act 1981 by permitting nurse practitioners to supervise designated prescribers who prescribe prescription medicines.
Date of notification in Gazette: 10 August 2017.
This order is administered by the Ministry of Health.
