Pursuant to subsections (1) and (4) of section 164 of the Education Act 1989, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
Order
1 Title and commencement
(1)
This order may be cited as the Auckland Institute of Technology Disestablishment and Incorporation into Auckland University of Technology Order 1999.
(2)
This order comes into force on 1 January 2000.
2 Auckland Institute of Technology disestablished and incorporated into Auckland University of Technology
The polytechnic that, immediately before the commencement of this order, is known as the Auckland Institute of Technology—
(a)
is disestablished; and
(b)
is incorporated in the Auckland University of Technology.

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 1 January 2000, disestablishes the Auckland Institute of Technology and incorporates it in the Auckland University of Technology, which was established by the Auckland University of Technology (Establishment) Order 1999.
Date of notification in Gazette: 7 October 1999.
