This order is made under section 26(1)(a) and (2) of the Public Service Act 2020 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

1 Title
This order is the Public Service (Climate Change Chief Executives Board) Order 2022.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 29 July 2022.
3 Principal Act
This order amends the Public Service Act 2020.
4 Schedule 2 amended
In Schedule 2, Part 3, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 29 July 2022, inserts the name of the Climate Change Chief Executives Board (the board) into Part 3 of Schedule 2 of the Public Service Act 2020 (the principal Act), as an interdepartmental executive board serviced by the Ministry for the Environment.
The board is being established to—
co-ordinate implementation of New Zealand’s emissions reduction plan, including implementation of cross-agency actions and strategies; and
monitor and report on overall progress towards achieving the emissions reduction plan, including sector sub-targets; and
provide advice to Ministers in relation to the emissions reduction plan; and
undertake the existing functions of the Climate Change Chief Executives Board that was established by Cabinet.
As a result of the order, the board becomes a public service agency to which the principal Act applies. The principal Act governs the board’s responsibilities, powers, and working arrangements, and the selection of board members.
