Order

1 Title

This order is the Customs Import Prohibition (Coins and Bank Notes) Order 2019.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 1 October 2019.

Order: confirmed, on 12 December 2020, by section 10(b) of the Subordinate Legislation Confirmation Act 2020 (2020 No 66).

3 Interpretation

In this order, bank note has the same meaning as in section 5(1) of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 2021.

Clause 3: amended, on 1 July 2022, by section 300(2) of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 2021 (2021 No 31).

4 Importation of false or counterfeit coin or bank note prohibited

The importation of a false or counterfeit coin or bank note is prohibited.

5 Importation prohibited of coin or bank note that is intended for circulation and that is not legal tender

The importation of a coin or bank note is prohibited if the coin or bank note is—

(a)

intended for circulation in New Zealand; and

(b)

not legal tender in New Zealand.

1 General

This is a consolidation of the Customs Import Prohibition (Coins and Bank Notes) Order 2019 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.

2 Legal status

A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
