This order is made under section 2(1) of the Contracts of Insurance (Repeals and Amendments) Act 2024 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

1 Title
This order is the Contracts of Insurance (Repeals and Amendments) Act Commencement Order 2025.
2 Commencement of certain provisions of Contracts of Insurance (Repeals and Amendments) Act 2024
The following provisions of the Contracts of Insurance (Repeals and Amendments) Act 2024 come into force on 7 April 2025:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order brings sections 14(1) and (2) and 17 to 19 of the Contracts of Insurance (Repeals and Amendments) Act 2024 (the Act) into force on 7 April 2025.
Those sections (the relevant provisions) amend the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013, mainly with respect to new material inserted into that Act on 31 March 2025 by the Financial Markets (Conduct of Institutions) Amendment Act 2022. That new material relates partly to contracts of insurance. The relevant provisions—
update that new material to reflect concepts used in the Contracts of Insurance Act 2024; and
make related technical amendments.
The rest of the Act’s provisions that are not yet in force will come into force on 15 November 2027, unless they are commenced earlier by Order in Council.
Date of notification in Gazette: 3 April 2025.
This order is administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
