Aquaculture Legislation Amendment Bill

Proposed motion to divide Bill into 4 Bills

Hon Trevor Mallard, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2 and Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that for the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and the Part 1 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Aquaculture Reform (Repeals and Transitional Provisions) Amendment Act 2008.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 2 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Fisheries Amendment Act 2008.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 3 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 3 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Maori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Amendment Act 2008.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 4 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 4 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Resource Management Amendment Act 2008.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper divides the Aquaculture Legislation Amendment Bill into the following 4 Bills:

  • Aquaculture Reform (Repeals and Transitional Provisions) Amendment Bill:

  • Fisheries Amendment Bill:

  • Maori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Amendment Bill:

  • Resource Management Amendment Bill.
