Social Assistance (New Work Tests, Incentives, and Obligations) Amendment Bill

Proposed motion to divide Bill into 5 Bills

Hon Paula Bennett, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that for the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and the Part 1 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Amendment Act 2010.

2 Commencement

  • (1) Sections 1 to 3 and 4(1) come into force on the day after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

    (2) Section 4(2) comes into force on 27 September 2010.

That Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 2 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Education Amendment Act 2010.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on 27 September 2010.

That Part 3 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 3 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Taxation (Definitions of Dependent Child) Amendment Act 2010.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 4 and Schedules 1 to 3 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 4 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Social Security (New Work Tests, Incentives, and Obligations) Amendment Act 2010.

2 Commencement

  • (1) Sections 13(1), 21, 24, 36, and 37 come into force on the day after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

    (2) Sections 13(11) to (14) and 16 and Schedule 2 come into force on 2 May 2011.

    (3) This rest of this Act comes into force on 27 September 2010.

That Part 5 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 5 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the War Pensions Amendment Act 2010.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on 27 September 2010.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper divides the Social Assistance (New Work Tests, Incentives, and Obligations) Amendment Bill into the following Bills:

  • the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Amendment Bill:

  • the Education Amendment Bill:

  • the Taxation (Definitions of Dependent Child) Amendment Bill:

  • the Social Security (New Work Tests, Incentives, and Obligations) Amendment Bill:

  • the War Pensions Amendment Bill.
