Child and Family Protection Bill

Proposed motion to divide Bill into 3 Bills

Hon Simon Power, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that for the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and the Part 1 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Domestic Violence Amendment Act 2010.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force 3 months after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 2 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Care of Children Amendment Act 2010.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force 3 months after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 3 be a separate Bill, and that for the Part 3 heading there be substituted the following enacting words and clauses:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Adoption Amendment Act 2010.

2 Commencement

  • This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper divides the Child and Family Protection Bill into the following 3 Bills:

  • the Domestic Violence Amendment Bill:

  • the Care of Children Amendment Bill:

  • the Adoption Amendment Bill.
