Social Security (Youth Support and Work Focus) Amendment Bill

Hon Paula Bennett, in Committee, to move the following amendments:

Clause 20: Proposed new section 166(a)

Replace “relationship” (at line 20 on page 29) with “relationship; or”.

Clause 20: Proposed new section 171(3)(b)

After “obligations” (at line 19 on page 34) insert “under section 60Q”.

Clause 20: Proposed new section 179(6A)

Replace “payments or” (at line 4 on page 42) with “payments”.

Clause 36: Proposed new section 96A(1)(a)

Delete “who” (at line 5 on page 54).

Schedule 2

After the item relating to section 84(1) (after line 26 on page 61) insert:

Section 90(3)

In section 90(3) replace paragraph (a) with:

“(a) any of paragraphs (a) to (c) of section 159(2) applies to the student; or”.

Of the 5 proposed amendments set out on this Supplementary Order Paper, 3 are minor textual corrections only, and 2 have more substance.

The 2 are—

an amendment to proposed new section 171(3)(b) making clear that the reference in that paragraph to “obligations” is a reference to obligations under section 60Q of the principal Act:
a new consequential amendment to the principal Act, replacing a reference to the present section 60FA(1)(b) (which is to be repealed by clause 12) with a reference to proposed new section 159(2) (which is an equivalent provision).
