Financial Reporting Bill

Proposed motion to divide Bill into 2 Bills

Hon Craig Foss, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and Parts 1 to 3 be a separate Bill, and that the enacting words and clauses 1 and 2 be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Financial Reporting Act 2013.

2 Commencement

  • (1) This Act (except section 59) comes into force on a date appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council; and 1 or more orders may be made appointing different dates for different provisions and for different purposes.

    (2) Section 59 comes into force on the day after the date on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

    (3) To the extent that it is not previously brought into force under subsection (1) or (2), the rest of this Act comes into force on 1 April 2017.

That Part 4 and Schedules 1 to 3 be a separate Bill, and that the Part 4 heading be replaced with:

  • This Act is the Financial Reporting (Amendments to Other Enactments) Act 2013.

2 Commencement

  • (1) This Act comes into force on a date appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council; and 1 or more orders may be made appointing different dates for different provisions and for different purposes.

    (2) To the extent that it is not previously brought into force under subsection (1), the rest of this Act comes into force on 1 April 2017.

    (3) In this section, provision includes any item, or any part of an item, in any of the schedules.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper divides the Financial Reporting Bill into the following Bills:

  • Parts 1 to 3 will become the Financial Reporting Bill:

  • Part 4 and Schedules 1 to 3 will become the Financial Reporting (Amendments to Other Enactments) Bill.
