Budget Measures (Financial Support for Newborn Children) Bill

Proposed motion to divide Bill into 2 Bills

Hon Simon Bridges, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, Part 1, and Schedules 1 to 3 be a separate Bill, and that the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and the Part 1 heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Parental Leave and Employment Protection Amendment Act (No 2) 2014.

2 Commencement

  • (1) Sections 6 to 18 and Schedule 2 come into force on 1 April 2015.

    (2) Sections 19 to 31 and Schedule 3 come into force on 1 April 2016.

    (3) The rest of this Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 2 be a separate Bill, and that the Part 2 heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

  • This Act is the Taxation (Parental Tax Credit) Act 2014.

2 Commencement

  • Sections 32 to 38 come into force on 1 April 2015.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper divides the Budget Measures (Financial Support for Newborn Children) Bill into the following 2 Bills:

  • Parental Leave and Employment Protection Amendment Bill (No 2):

  • Taxation (Parental Tax Credit) Bill.
