Proposed amendments
Hon Paul Goldsmith, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 7(2)
In clause 7(2), replace “(1)(a) to (j)”
(page 9, lines 9 and 10) with “(1)(a) to (m)”
.
Clause 29(1)
In clause 29(1), delete “or specification”
(page 23, line 6).
Schedule 2
In Schedule 2, replace clause 1 (page 43, lines 3 and 4) with:
1 Interpretation
In this schedule,—
Standards Council includes Standards NZ
transferred employee means a person who—
(a)
was employed by the Standards Council immediately before the commencement of this schedule; and
(b)
becomes an employee of the Ministry on the commencement of this schedule.
Schedule 3
In Schedule 3, clause 1(1), replace “of this Act”
(page 47, line 7) with “of this schedule”
.
In Schedule 3, clause 2, replace “commencement of this Act”
(page 47, lines 14 and 15) with “commencement of this schedule”
.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper makes 5 minor amendments to the Standards and Accreditation Bill (the Bill).
Clause 7(2) is amended to provide that, in performing the functions referred to in clause 7(1)(k) to (m), the NZ Standards Executive must act independently and with regard to the value and legitimate use of standards and the importance of maintaining expert input into the standards development process.
Clause 29(1) is amended to delete the words “or specification”
because those words do not apply to standards made under this Bill (as opposed to standards made under previous Standards Acts).
Clause 1 of Schedule 2 is replaced in order to insert a definition of transferred employee.
Clauses 1 and 2 of Schedule 3 are amended to replace references to the commencement of the Bill with references to the commencement of Schedule 3 of the Bill.
