Hineuru Claims Settlement Bill

Proposed amendments

Hon Christopher Finlayson, in Committee, to move the following amendments:

Clause 14

In clause 14(3)(a), after “Claim)” (page 25, line 13), insert “, to the extent that subsection (2) applies to the claim”.

In clause 14(3)(b), delete “includes” (page 25, line 14).

Clause 67

In clause 67(1), delete “of the Hineuru Settlement Trust” (page 44, lines 24 and 25).

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Hineuru Claims Settlement Bill. It changes the definition of historical claims for consistency with the definition in the deed of settlement. It also corrects a reference to the trustees of the post-settlement governance entity, which is Te Kōpere o te iwi o Hineuru Trust.

Departmental disclosure statement

The Office of Treaty Settlements considers that a departmental disclosure statement is not required to be prepared for this Supplementary Order Paper.
