Electronic Monitoring of Offenders Legislation Bill

Proposed motion to divide Bill into 3 Bills

Hon Judith Collins, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and Part 1AA be a separate Bill, and that the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, and the Part 1AA heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

This Act is the Corrections (Electronic Monitoring of Offenders) Amendment Act 2016.

2 Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day that is 3 months after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 1 be a separate Bill, and that the Part 1 heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

This Act is the Parole (Electronic Monitoring of Offenders) Amendment Act 2016.

2 Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day that is 3 months after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

That Part 2 and the Schedule be a separate Bill, and that the Part 2 heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

This Act is the Sentencing (Electronic Monitoring of Offenders) Amendment Act 2016.

2 Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day that is 3 months after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper divides the Electronic Monitoring of Offenders Legislation Bill into the following 3 Bills:

  • Corrections (Electronic Monitoring of Offenders) Amendment Bill:

  • Parole (Electronic Monitoring of Offenders) Amendment Bill:

  • Sentencing (Electronic Monitoring of Offenders) Amendment Bill.
