Education (Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand) Amendment Bill

Proposed amendment

Hon Chris Hipkins, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Schedule 1

In Schedule 1, new Part 5B of Schedule 1, after clause 11H(5) (page 7, after line 21), insert:

Section 380(4) (as in force immediately after the commencement of this clause) does not apply to the election of members under this clause.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper amends the transitional provisions of the Education (Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand) Amendment Bill to clarify that new section 380(4) of the Education Act 1989 does not apply to the election of the first members of the Teaching Council.
