Public Service Legislation Bill

Proposed motion to divide Bill into 2 Bills

Hon Chris Hipkins, in Committee, to move as follows:

That the enacting words, clauses 1 and 2, Parts 1 to 6, and Schedules 1 to 11 be a separate Bill, and that the enacting words and clauses 1 and 2 be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

This Act is the Public Service Act 2020.

2 Commencement

(1)

Section 89 comes into force on a date set by Order in Council.

(2)

Section 110(1) comes into force immediately after the expiry of the 6-month period that starts on the date of Royal assent.

(3)

The rest of this Act comes into force on the day after the date of Royal assent.

That Part 7 be a separate Bill, and that the Part 7 heading be replaced with:

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

This Act is the Public Finance Amendment Act 2020.

2 Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day after the date of Royal assent.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper sets out a motion to divide the Public Service Legislation Bill into the following 2 Bills:

  • Public Service Bill:

  • Public Finance Amendment Bill.
