Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends Supplementary Order Paper No 38 (SOP 38), which proposes amendments to the Health (Fluoridation of Drinking Water) Amendment Bill. New section 116E of the Health Act 1956, as proposed by SOP 38, enables the Director-General of Health to direct a local authority to add or not to add fluoride to drinking water supplied through its local authority supply. This Supplementary Order Paper amends SOP 38 to require the Director-General to seek and consider advice from the Director of Public Health on specified matters before making a direction.
