Proposed amendments
Hon Chris Bishop, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 2
In clause 2(1A), replace “6 weeks after Royal assent”
(page 4, lines 5 and 6) with “on 30 January 2025”
.
In clause 2(1B), replace “3 months after Royal assent”
(page 4, lines 8 and 9) with “on 20 March 2025”
.
Explanatory note
This Amendment Paper amends the Residential Tenancies Amendment Bill (the Bill) by providing fixed dates of commencement for 2 groups of provisions of the Bill in place of dates to be determined by a specified period of time after Royal assent. Clause 2(1A) of the Bill is amended to set the date of commencement for provisions of the Bill making amendments relating to tenancy termination as 30 January 2025, rather than 6 weeks after Royal assent. Clause 2(1B) is amended to set the date of commencement for provisions of the Bill making amendments relating to miscellaneous matters as 20 March 2025, rather than 3 months after Royal assent.
Departmental disclosure statement
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development considers that a departmental disclosure statement is not required to be prepared for this Amendment Paper.
