Proposed amendments
Hon Paul Goldsmith, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 222
In clause 222, after the definition of land holding agency (page 125, after line 5), insert:
Manunui School property means the property described as the Manunui School site (land only) in part 3 of the property redress schedule
In clause 222, after the definition of Matapuna Ballast Reserve property (page 125, after line 9), insert:
Taumarunui Primary School property means the property described as the Taumarunui Primary School site (land only) in part 4 of the property redress schedule
New clause 233A
After clause 233 (page 129, after line 27), insert:
233A Reserve status removed from Manunui School property
(1)
The reservation of the part of the Manunui School property that is a reserve subject to the Reserves Act 1977 is revoked.
(2)
Sections 24 and 25 of the Reserves Act 1977 do not apply to the revocation under subsection (1).
Cross-heading above clause 234
In the cross-heading above clause 234, replace “Conservation status”
(page 129, line 28) with “Statuses”

New clause 237A
After clause 237 (page 131, after line 6), insert:
237A Reserve status removed from Taumarunui Primary School property before transfer
(1)
This section applies if the Taumarunui Primary School property is to be transferred under section 223 to the trustees.
(2)
Immediately before the property is transferred, the reservation of the part of the Taumarunui Primary School property that is a reserve subject to the Reserves Act 1977 is revoked.
(3)
Sections 24 and 25 of the Reserves Act 1977 do not apply to the revocation under subsection (2).
Schedule 3
In Schedule 3, item relating to Taitua Street site A, delete “to Nik Turanga”
(page 164).
Explanatory note
This Amendment Paper makes changes to the Ngāti Hāua Claims Settlement Bill (the Bill) to better give effect to Te Pua o Te Riri Kore, the deed of settlement between the Crown and Ngāti Hāua. The Amendment Paper amends the Bill to—
remove the reserve status from the Manunui School property, a commercial redress property, so that the property can transfer to the trustees of Te Whiringa Kākaho o Ngāti Hāua (the trustees) on the settlement date:
remove the reserve status from the Taumarunui Primary School property, a deferred selection property, if the trustees exercise their option under Te Pua o Te Riri Kore to purchase that property:
correct a reference to a lease in Schedule 3 (cultural redress properties).
Departmental disclosure statement
The Office of Treaty Settlements and Takutai Moana—Te Tari Whakatau considers that a departmental disclosure statement is not required to be prepared for this Amendment Paper.
