Proposed amendment
Rāhui Kātene, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
New clause 3A
To insert the following clause after clause 3 (after line 32 on page 4):
3A Tiriti o Waitangi
In order to recognise and respect the Crown’s responsibility to take appropriate account of te Tiriti o Waitangi, local authorities and any person acting on behalf of local authorities must act in a way that is consistent with te Tiriti o Waitangi when exercising powers or performing functions under this Act.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Freedom Camping Bill to require local authorities to recognise, respect, and act in accordance with te Tiriti o Waitangi when exercising powers or performing functions under the Act.
