Education Amendment Bill
Proposed amendment
Chris Hipkins, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 31: new section 158I
In clause 31, new section 158I, after subclause (9) (after line 34 on page 31), insert:
“(10) A sponsor must notify the Ministry of any such delegation or revocation of a delegation as soon as possible, but no later than ten working days after the delegation has been made.”
Explanatory note
The Education Amendment Bill as currently drafted does not require a sponsor who has delegated any of the functions or powers of the sponsor under the Act to notify the Ministry of any such delegation.
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the bill to require a sponsor of a partnership school kura hourua to notify the Ministry of any delegation made, or any revocation of a delegation. This would ensure that the Ministry has a record of all delegations made by the sponsor.
