Clause 31: new section 158K
In clause 31, new section 158K(1), replace “may, with the consent of the Secretary,”
(line 13 on page 32), with “must”
.
Explanatory note
The Education Amendment Bill as currently drafted provides that partnership schools kura hourua may participate in a school risk management scheme. The scheme provides protection for both school contents and legal liability issues, including public liability.
In the event of a partnership school kura hourua facing legal liability for an issue, it is important that there are sufficient financial safeguards in place. This Supplementary Order Paper amends the bill to provide that partnership schools kura hourua must participate in a school risk management scheme.
