Proposed amendment
Dr Russel Norman, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 31
In clause 31(1), new section 11(1)(d)(ii)(D) (after line 4 on page 26), insert “; and”
and also insert:
“(E) privacy:”
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Government Communications Security Bureau and Related Legislation Amendment Bill. The functions of the Inspector-General do not currently extend to ensuring that ‘privacy’ is included in the policies and practices of an intelligence agency that are subject to review and/or unscheduled audit. This amendment explicitly includes privacy as a practice and policy that is subject to a review.
