Government Communications Security Bureau and Related Legislation Amendment Bill
Proposed amendment
Dr Russel Norman, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 6, new section 8C:
In clause 6, delete new section 8C (line 9 on page 8 to line 10 on page 9).
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Government Communications Security Bureau and Related Legislation Amendment Bill by deleting new section 8C. Allowing the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) to assist the New Zealand Police, the New Zealand Defence Force, and the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service is opening up the surveillance powers of the GCSB to be used by domestic agencies against New Zealand people. This amendment removes the proposed co-operation with other entities.
