Supplementary Order Paper
Tuesday, 17 November 2015
Social Security (Commencement of Benefits) Amendment Bill
Proposed amendment
Carmel Sepuloni, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 2
In clause 2, after “on the day”
(page 1, line 6), insert “that is 6 weeks”
.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends clause 2 so as to delay the commencement of the Bill for 6 weeks. This would give people who have been penalised by the incorrect payment of benefits a window in which to lodge a claim for back payment, in line with natural justice requirements.
