Proposed amendment
Denise Lee, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 14
In clause 14(2), replace new section 222AD(5) (page 6, lines 20 to 24) with:

An elected person specified in subsection (4) must have been deemed to satisfy responsible criteria to sit on the council, and have appropriate and relevant skill sets to contribute to the deliberations of the council.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Education Amendment Bill. Placement on a governing council of a polytechnic is an important and demanding job. Exclusion of any criteria on which to judge the suitability of an individual to contribute to the decisions and actions of the governing council is detrimental to the standard of the council. This amendment will ensure that the relevant knowledge, skills, or experience of those who sit on the council are high.
