Proposed amendment

Hon Alfred Ngaro, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

New clause 20A

After clause 20, insert:

20A Target: overall

The Minister must set a target of reducing the number of children in material hardship by 100,000 in 3 years.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper inserts new clause 20A into the Child Poverty Reduction Bill to require the Minister to set a target of reducing the number of children in material hardship by 100,000 in 3 years. This was a target National had committed to with support from initiatives such as the Family Incomes Package last year.
