Proposed amendments to SOP No 201
Chris Bishop, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 8
In clause 8, new section 4A(1)(h), replace “.”
(page 9) with “:”

In clause 8, new section 4A(1), after paragraph (h) (page 9), insert:
(i)
a person who is a bona fide competitor in a target shooting sport that is—
(i)
governed by a legitimate international sporting body; and
(ii)
where the rules of the discipline provide for the use of semi-automatic firearms or shotguns; and
(iii)
the person is a member of a target shooting club recognised by the Commissioner as a club where such target shooting disciplines are practised.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends new section 4A in clause 8 of the Arms (Prohibited Firearms, Magazines, and Parts) Amendment Bill to allow an exemption for recognised clubs who are bona fide target shooting sports clubs offering training and participation in internationally recognised disciplines.
