Education Amendment Bill (No 2)
Proposed amendment
Nicola Willis, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 13
In clause 13, in new section 382A, after subsection (2), (page 6, after line 7), insert:
(2A)
If the Teaching Council does not agree with the statement of Government policy, this must be noted in the statement when it is presented to the House.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends clause 13 of the Education Amendment Bill (No 2). It ensures the Teaching Council has the ability to publicise its disagreement with the Minister on certain policy.
This could lead to greater consultation between the Minister and the Teaching Council, as the Minister would not want it to be made public that the Teaching Council disagrees with the Government policy and will therefore seek agreement from the Teaching Council on the policy.
