Conservation (Indigenous Freshwater Fish) Amendment Bill
Proposed amendment
Sarah Dowie, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 16
In clause 16(3A), replace new section 48A(1) with:
(1A)
Before making any recommendation under subsection (1), the Minister must—
(a)
consult any person or organisation that the Minister considers is likely to be substantially affected by, or will be representative of the interests of people likely to be substantially affected by, the regulations; and
(b)
take into account any scientific and quantitative evidence available.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Conservation (Indigenous Freshwater Fish) Amendment Bill to provide for a science- and evidence-based approach to be followed in regulating or prohibiting the take or management of specified freshwater fish.
