Proposed amendment
Paulo Garcia, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 24
After clause 24(5) (page 14, after line 9), insert:
(5A)
The Registrar of the High Court must notify the Commissioner about the expiry of any final control order at least 2 months before the date that the final control order expires.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Terrorism Suppression (Control Orders) Bill by inserting a new provision requiring the Commissioner to be notified 2 months in advance of a control order expiring, to ensure a new application can be lodged on time if the order is to be renewed.
