Proposed amendment
Brett Hudson, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 8
In clause 8, after subclause (2) (page 19, after line 20), insert:
(2A)
In section 4A(1), after paragraph (i), insert:
(j)
a person who is—
(i)
a bona fide competitor in a target shooting sport—
(A)
that is governed by a legitimate international sporting body; and
(B)
where the rules of the discipline provide for the use of semi-automatic firearms or shotguns; and
(ii)
a member of a target-shooting club that holds a certificate of approval issued by the Commissioner as a shooting club.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends clause 8 of the Arms Legislation Bill to allow an exemption for a person who is a bona fide target-shooting competitor in an internationally recognised discipline and who is a member of a target-shooting club offering training and participation.
