Proposed amendments

David Seymour, in Committee, to move the following amendments:

Clause 10

In clause 10, replace “both” (page 5, line 36) with “all”.

After clause 10(a) (page 6, after line 2), insert:

(ab)

the order is urgently needed and may apply only for a period of 48 hours:

Clause 14

In clause 14(3), replace “the Minister or Director-General (as the case may be)” (page 8, line 34) with “the Director-General”.

In clause 14(4), replace “1 month” (page 9, line 3) with “48 hours”.

In clause 14(4), replace “date” (page 9, line 4) with “time”.

Clause 15

Delete clause 15(2) (page 9, lines 10—11).

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper makes various amendments to the Bill to restrict section 11 orders made by the Director-General to 48 hours and to prevent the Minister making section 11 orders without complying with the 48-hour notice provision.
