Proposed amendments
Hon Nicky Wagner, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 26
In clause 26, after new section 24(1)(i) (page 18, after line 22), insert:
(ia)
any advice or message given by an authorised community health group to an individual or to groups for the purpose of supporting them to switch from smoking to vaping, where that advice or message has been approved by a suitably qualified health worker:
In clause 26, new section 24(2) (page 19, lines 3 to 8), insert in its appropriate alphabetical order:
authorised community health group means a community health group authorised by the Director-General by notice in the Gazette for the purpose of subsection (1)(ia)
In clause 26, new section 24(2), paragraph (b) of the definition of suitably qualified health worker, after “subsection (1)(i)”
(page 16, line 8), insert “or (ia)”

Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Vaping) Amendment Bill to allow community health groups to deliver support to smokers to switch from smoking to vaping where that training and ongoing support and guidance is provided by a qualified health worker. The Director-General will be able to review and approve a lead support health worker assigned to a community-led group. Approved community-led health groups will be allowed to advertise support sessions and provide information to communities.
