COVID-19 Public Health Response Amendment Bill
Proposed amendments
Hon Gerry Brownlee, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 5
In clause 5(1), replace definition of MIQF costs (page 2, lines 25 and 26) with:
MIQF costs—
(a)
means costs incurred by the New Zealand Government in respect of persons staying at MIQFs; and
(b)
includes costs relating to the enforcement of COVID-19 orders
Clause 8
In clause 8, new section 32B (page 3, after line 34), insert as new subsection (2):
(2)
To avoid doubt, regulations under section 33A may prescribe charges to recover costs relating to the enforcement of COVID-19 orders.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the COVID-19 Public Health Response Amendment Bill to clarify that the cost recovery provisions in the Bill authorise the recovery of costs relating to the enforcement of COVID-19 orders.
